Kriston,

Is there a roadmap to AOLserver development? I am particularly curious
about il8n capabilities.

I gather that in the far past, il8n wasn't a concern: it wasn't really a
possibility. In the AOLserver 3.0 - 3.2 series, Rob Mayoff had added some
capabilities to help with il8n, but apparently there have been some changes
in 3.4 that somehow compete/interfere with those changes.

What is the future of AOLserver il8n, what should web developers be doing
to prepare for it, and what can the AOLserver development community do to
help out?

One for instance, there have been some concerns expressed that AOLserver
3.4 may not be able to handle non ISO-9959-1 character sets at least
outside of adp pages.

On a related topic, there's an issue of AOLserver support of gzip
compression. Jim Wilcoxson has a module that easily enables gzip
compression outside of adp pages, but there is no easy way to enable gzip
compression for adp pages.

It would be wonderful if AOLserver 4(?) had unified il8n support for tcl
and adp pages, and gzip encoding throughout.

I'm interested in your comments of course,

Jerry
