[AOLSERVER] ns_event - Uses?

Hi all,
       Does anyone have any examples they can share that deal with ns_event?
It looks like it would be perfect for socket timers.  I've had a terrible
time timing out connections that take too long to return data, and this looks
like something that might work, I've just never used it before.  Have any of
you?
