VA Software has held on thus far, but not with a really strong grasp. There is always the (likely) supposition that should they let go, another would pick up SF given the good "aura" surrounding it. In any case, we (the Tcl Core Team) worry about this as well, and make backups of pretty much everything. Keeping the web site in CVS is good, because you can download snapshots of the CVS archive (not like a 'cvs co', but the whole set of RCS files) nightly. Andreas Kupries also created a script that gets all the bug reports as well. The files there have obviously been collected from elsewhere anyway.
