I don't think switching off LISTSERV is necessarily a good idea (but if we do, I vote for ezmlm).
Yes, ezmlm works great. No web widgets however, which is probably good. It only takes a little time to set it up if you have never done it before. Don't know how easy it would be to migrate users to the list.

To Remove yourself from this list, simply send an email to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> with the body of "SIGNOFF AOLSERVER" in the email message. You can leave the Subject: field of your email blank.
