All,
We have found that AOLserver 3.4.2 crashes when we attempt to POST a file
(as multipart form data) that is larger than 2Gb, and returns a 404 code and
logs an error ("Error: fastpath: stat(/www/hugefile) failed: Value too large
for defined data type") when trying to serve the same file. We are running
AOLserver 3.4.2 (with an encoding patch we reverse-engineered from the
ArsDigita encoding patches) under with Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1 and an
ext3 file system. The operating system can handle the file without
difficulty; the problem seems to be that AOLserver uses older 32-bit system
calls rather than newer 64-bit calls when talking to the file system.
My questions are:
(1) Does anyone know if the 2Gb max file size is a limitation of AOLserver
or Tcl itself?
(2) If it is AOLserver, is the 2Gb limit is still present in later versions
of AOLserver, and if not, is there any plan to port the file system
interface to the newer 64-bit API?
Thanks for any help. We can work around this issue, but it would be helpful
to know if there are any plans to handle larger file sizes.
Eric
