Interesting!  I've noticed lately that my Win98 SE machine running IE
6.0 had been exhibiting this behavior, and I've been running 98SE/IE6
for many months and I've only started seeing this behavior recently.

Apparently, there's a Microsoft IE6 SP1 hotfix but it's not a freely
available download:

But, thanks for sending this to the list, Bernd.  It was driving me
nuts, and I was starting to wonder if it WAS something AOLserver was
doing when serving up the images - like, maybe sending everything but
the very last byte in the file, causing IE to spin waiting for it to
finish, or something.

I just wish Microsoft would fix this bug.  It's frustrating having IE6
hang and then usually End-Task'ing IE causes the BSOD, which then
requires a reboot.
