Just to narrow down...

The proposal is *not* about if XYZ can be done in Tcl
and/or how much slower or faster this could be.
This is *not* the intention.

The intention is to augment, on the architecture-level,
the http-only protocol server, as AS server now is, to
a <versatile> protocol server, with the option to
plug_your_own minimal implementation and benefit from
all other stuff: logging, thread/conn pools, caches, etc.

This opens whole lotta application options and allows
people to build upon the great functionality already
in the server w/o re-inventing the wheel (in Tcl)
over and over again.
