Sorry, I mean the same as you mean by the server logs. We always name them $server.err, so we think of them as the error logs (also the only time we ever look at them is when an error happens). I forget that not everyone has the same terminology.

So it was never implemented?  Sounds like a bug to me, since the config
file parameters to do it are there.
