ok, I'll spell it out.

it's not my application that's violated the expectation I state. you haven't been paying attention to the From: headers, and seem to have mistaken me for the original poster of this thread.

all I've been saying is that "ns_returnfile <filename>" returning the content of something other than <filename>, contrary to the documentation and common sense, is a bug. given that fastpath exists for a (good) reason, and that the behaviour which triggers the bug is marginal anyway, the correct response is "the bug will not be fixed, here's why, and here's how to work around it".
