If you could rebuild with -ggdb flag and run gdb on the core to get a backtrace, that might tell us what Apache was doing when this happened.
a core file was not produced by the crash. ideas on why i didn't get one / how to get one? are you asking me to rebuild with -ggdb and put it back into service, wait until it fails, and then hopefully find a core file waiting around for me so i can do a backtrace? -- Bob
