Can you narrow down the exact names and versions
of browsers that are having trouble?
What does your log show for the requests that are
denied?
What happens if you try telnetting to port 80 and
doing a:
POST /southwind/cgi-bin/checkusage HTTP/1.0
Host: www.southwind.net
(ie. add a Host: header to the request you tried before)
If you can't figure anything out, if you can add an
allow for alive.worldgate.com I can try it myself.
