 Nothing related to this should have changed between 1.2.5 and 1.2.6.  I'm
 beginning to suspect HPUX general lameness.  If so you're going to have to
 try a few things to isolate the problem, because we generally don't have
 access to HPUX. 
 
 First off, can you give 1.2.6 a try?  It hasn't been announced yet.  You
 can get it at <ftp://dev.apache.org/httpd/dist/apache_1.2.6.tar.gz>. 
 
 If you have optimizations enabled on your compiler please try disabling
 them.
