Nevermind, this has nothing to do with Apache or Solaris! Sorry to bother
you guys, but thanks for helping steer me to the real problem.
The real problem is that some versions of Netscape (3 and 4, at least) on
some MacOS systems (MacOS 8.1 on a PMac, at least) do NOT close the
connection to the web server for 70 seconds or so after hitting the <stop>
button. Just happens I use a PMac with MacOS 8.1 and Netscape 4.05 for all
my web development :-(
My test CGIs quit just fine immediately after attempting to send output on
a connection that is *really* closed (tested from various other browsers
and platforms).
