>Number: 5299 >Category: mod_rewrite >Synopsis: Mod-rewrite of cgi changes REQUEST_METHOD >Confidential: no >Severity: serious >Priority: medium >Responsible: apache >State: open >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: apache >Arrival-Date: Fri Nov 12 18:50:00 PST 1999 >Last-Modified: >Originator: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Organization: apache >Release: 1.3.9 >Environment: Solaris 7, GCC >Description: I have a rewrite rule of RewriteRule ^/scripts/(.*) http://www2.northgate.net/cgi-bin/$1.exe [T=application/x-httpd-cgi,L]
the rewrite causes a normal POST turn into a GET, hence the cgi info is lost. The same thing appears to happen for a simple version of the above using Redirect. see problem report 4247, I beleive this to be the same problem.. >How-To-Repeat: set up two web servers, one has the POST form on it the other has the cgi programs. redirect the local cgi directory using mod_rewrite to the second web server (the one with the cgi scripts) >Fix: look for the request_method prior to the rewrit rule being applied and try not to munge it. >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: [In order for any reply to be added to the PR database, you need] [to include <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> in the Cc line and make sure the] [subject line starts with the report component and number, with ] [or without any 'Re:' prefixes (such as "general/1098:" or ] ["Re: general/1098:"). If the subject doesn't match this ] [pattern, your message will be misfiled and ignored. The ] ["apbugs" address is not added to the Cc line of messages from ] [the database automatically because of the potential for mail ] [loops. If you do not include this Cc, your reply may be ig- ] [nored unless you are responding to an explicit request from a ] [developer. Reply only with text; DO NOT SEND ATTACHMENTS! ]
