Yes, there was a PR on this, #2250. It has been closed, but the message was excessively cryptic and didn't help, so I was making it a little more meaningful. I was going to address Marc's concerns to-night.
Please restore 1.40, and stop reverting other people's work without checking with them first - particularly when, as you indicated in your commit message, you're not familiar with the issues. #ken P-|}
