This message has been acked. I know there are some people who are insterested in improving the consistency of the docs, and this is an area which could use some work. All the directives which take extensions as arguments should have documentation on what formats are acceptable, and all the examples should be consistent in the format that they use. This problem extends beyond mod_mime.html
Any takers? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 24 Nov 2000 09:46:03 +0000 From: Joe Ainsworth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_mime.html Hi, While perusing your outstanding documentation for the Apache server's simple content negotiation (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_mime.html) I notice that a few selected example directives read as follows: AddLanguage ja .ja AddEncoding x-gzip gz AddHandler cgi-script cgi AddType image/gif GIF I have been informed by my colleague that the dot in the extension is not vital, nor is it case sensitive, and in turn I wonder whether consistency in its use in these examples may clarify matters even further for those who do not have a knowledgable colleague to turn to! I do feel your documentation is of an excellent standard, and I turn to it frequently. You have my deepest appreciation for the work you have done, both on the docs and the programs themselves.
