Hello, I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I could not find it in the list's archive: would it be OK if I added a <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> tag in the header of the pages I translate into Spanish?
That would allows us to use latin1, which makes it easier to review and check the spelling. I've been also adding a comment after the DOCTYPE definition, to keep track of the English version which was translated. For example, in the first lines of hhtpd-docs-1.3/htdocs/manual/index.html.es I've written the following: !DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <!-- translation 1.48 --> <html> <head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Documentación del servidor HTTP Apache Versión 1.3</title></head> That way we can use some scripts which tell us which translations are outdated, and shows us the differences between the current version and the version which was translated. Does this sound reasonable, or are there any other suggestions? Yours truly, Jaime Villate
