I would gladly share the AMI I've set up that has working APE server installed with documentation of how I installed, and what configuration files have been modified and why. This includes an install of postfix with setup for smtp relay since EC2 servers are black listed and instructions how to bounce through google apps. This also includes modifying php.ini to use sendmail associated with postfix.
