Hello!

I am not sure about APE 1.0, but I have modified the 0.9 release to work on an embedded linux platform (openembedded, Angstrom). We do not use the full facilities of APE 0.9, just the proxy service of the server. Some mods were required to the javascript library. It works great without DNS, but you are limited to one APE connection per web-client. I rolled some 1.0 improvements into 0.9. I did try to use 1.0 on our platform, but had major problems with the server-side javascript.

Thank you again,

Hi,
I'm interested in using APE for a web application that will be installed
into a embedded devices. Something similar to the configuration page inside
a router or a printer, or the visualization page of an IP camera. So there
wont be a DNS server, domain, etc. Only plain IP configuration (IP/Mask).
And i cannot edit hosts file of the clients because i will not have control
of what computers are going to be connected to the devices.
Can APE be used in that scenario?
It's possible to configure ape server and write the javascript to work in
this manner?. I've been trying a while, but i only be able to make it work
from localhost, not from another computer in the LAN.
Thank you a lot,
