OK. Well, from what I understood, it seems clear that that's the loop
that creates the make.deps file that fails.

I have no clue why.

I copied the content of make.deps (from another server where the
compilation works fine) and then it goes fine.

So basically, my problem is solved
(GREEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), but not
in a very neat manner.

Felix, thank you, but my server is a local one.

Do you have any clue what the error is all about? What does bad
substitution mean in that case? Is the error related to /bin/sh or
just to the loop?

Also, what does "error 2" mean?
