If you don't have any performance impact don't worry about it, really. The idea was that if a single user has 300 friends but only 5 are online, there is no need to store all 300 of then in the Ape server, just the 5 that are online. I just thought that with a large userbase storing everyone's friends in the Ape server could add up, that is all.
