OK. Now I understand. It took me a few minutes though.
I specify a different directory for this line:
modules_conf = /etc/ape/
Then I put in each of these two directories a file named
config_db.conf which contains:
db_address = x.x.x.x
and I access it in my main program with
Ape.config("config_db.conf", "db_address"))
That's it, right?
