I've been working with this for three days. I feel that there's just one step missing. APE is completely installed and running fine inside the Ubuntu VirutalBox. I've set up two NICs, one is HostOnly (for accessing the Guest from the Host and elsewhere) and the other is NAT (to allow the Guest to access the 'net). Following the instructions and demos, I have everything routed through the local.ape-project.org server name on Apache. Running /Check/Tools on the Guest gives me all- okay, and, like I said, from within the Guest OS, it works fine.
Accessing from the host, or any other computer on the network, failed. I set up the Host PC to have a static IP of 192.168.1.203 on my network. I then altered the hosts files accordingly: 192.168.1.203 local.ape-project.org (I tried adding other domains, such as ape.local.ape-project.org and 1.ape.local.ape-project.org, but these didn't seem to affect anything.) Now, on any machine with a modified host, I'm able to access http://local.ape-project.org and it begins to run the Hello World page that I copied from the APE site. (It simply prompts the user for their name.) The iframe that is created by APE in the Hello World app points to 1.ape.local.ape-project.org:6969 which results in an Unable To Connect message. (I've forwarded port 6969 to 192.168.1.203 in the router just in case, but it didn't change anything either.) So that's where I stand. I'm so close to getting this working. What is it that I'm missing? (If there's any additional information that would help, contents of Apache or APE config files, for instance, please let me know and I'll post that info.) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "APE Project" group.
