Hi, I am new to syslog. Can you help me understand what is going on a bit faster.
I have put this in my ape.conf: use_syslog =1 syslog_facility = local3 I can now see that the APE logs are in /var/log/syslog as well as /var/log/messages Can someone explain me 1) why the APE logs are in both files syslog and messages... 2) what the syslog facility = local3 does. I can't find any local3 anywhere (whether via Webmin or with a locate from the command line). Does this feature work? And if so, why can't I see local3 anywhere?
