I have just tried the APE watchdog as it is a very interesting feature : http://www.ape-project.org/wiki/index.php/Watchdog
It works fine except for one important thing. When aped is run in daemon, the watchdog launches aped and exits straight away. Obviously when later aped is closed, the watchdog is not there to watch anything. On the other hand, if I don't run ape in daemon, then the watchdog does not exit and properly restart aped if needed. My problem is that APE does not write logs unless it is in daemon... So am I stuck? Any workaround?
