We don't use categories in the monodix. This cat:n, cat:adj business
is an IIIT convention that we don't use.

Note, however, that different categories are used in different rules.
A past participle in English will be considered part of the adjective
category in a noun phrase, but part of a separate category for verb
phrases.

It's the same in English. We tag them as both nouns and as adjectives
and use part of speech tagging to determine between them based on how
they are used.
