Jacob,
thanks a lot and congratulations everybody involved!
To log in as a developer, I need to pay Google US$25. BTW if you paid
for that to have Apertium up, I think Apertium should reimburse you. I'd
rather send you a corrected version of the description text: please see
attached.
I will work on the press note later. Any suggestions on where to send
it? Slashdot? Wired?
Mikel
This is a free/open-source an open-source, offline machine translation app.
It doesen't doesn't require an internet connection for translation.
This means you don't need to send confidential text through the Internet
to get a translation.
USING THIS APP
This is first version of our Android app, and therefore some stuff is
features are still missing, of course.
You can mark text in e.g. the web browser, long-click and select to
"Share" with Apertium to put it into the translator.
The first translation you do will be probably be slow, on older phones
it can take up to a minute.
The subsequent translations will be faster.
On smaller phones you are adviced advised to start out installing just
one language pair.
To download language pairs we require internet access.
If you feel unconfident about that, you can switch off data connections
while translating, or... you can download the
source code and build your own version!

Later on (februaryFebruary 2013), as a seperateseparate version will
come _/with/_ fancy stuff such as widgets, SMS translation,
/_the poss__ibility to_ /store language data toin your SD card etc._/,
features/_ that require more permissions.

Its published!!
Mikel Forcada, could you chew up a press release statement?
In a few hours you should be able to visit
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.apertium.android
or search for "Apertium offline translator" on Google Play.
I didn't have time to correct all the glitches youve reported, that
will come later.
Mikel Forcada and Francis, Ive also given you access to edit the app's
text and correct my hopeless English.
Log in on Google as [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> or [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> and visit
https://play.google.com/apps/publish and you should be able to edit
the app description (pls dont touch the other apps ;-)
I also need the Apertium logo as SVG or as min 512x512 pixel
resolution. Anyone who knows the source of our logo?
Jacob
