Hi all language maintainers, I've got a challenge for you. It should not take more than a week.
Let your Apertium language pair meet my simple IBM1 decoder in the ring. The fight is about doing the best translation of the Block World Corpus found at my site tunedal.nu : http://www.tunedal.nu/download/block_world_corpus/ 1. Translate the corpus to the languages in your pair (and send a copy to me!) 2. Make Apertium translate the files in the developing set i.e. the files blockworld.parallel + language suffix (e.g. blockworld.parallel.en). If you use the new lexical selection module train it on the language model files i.e. blockworld.full + language suffix (e.g. blockworld.full.en). Don't ever use or even look at the files in the evaluation folder! 3. When your satisfied with the translation of the developing set (the parallel-files) test your language pair on the evaluation files. You might have to translate the files to your languages (and send them to me!). Send the resulting translations to the list with a copy to me. I will try to beat them with SMT using IBM model 1! I will send my translation the list for evaluation. Who will be the winner?
