I see.
The service at apertium.org:8080 it's based on "apertium-apy" [1], a python
implementation *partially* compatible with ScaleMT [2] (the one running at
api.apertium.org).
And the "markUnkown" (as well as the "format" parameter) is supported by
ScaleMT but not by APY

So you may want to change the server you're pointing at.
