If you want to see the output of each translation step, you can put
| tee /dev/tty
between each call of an apertium tool.
That will do something like that :
echo "...." | lt-proc ... | tee /dev/tty | apertium-tagger ... | tee /dev/tty |
apertium-pretransfert | tee /dev/tty | apertium-transfer ... | tee /dev/tty |
.... (etc...)
