Yeah, I remember that one! It is an intentional workaround to simplify
translation of the adjective (actually, indefinite pronoun with
adjectival inflection) "andere, anderer, anderes".
The artificial uninflected form "ander" is in the dictionary, because it
allows treating the word as adjective and this prevents transfer from
getting overly complicated.
