My bad; I got confused by the "PREFVAR" stuff in the makefile, fixed
now:

-$(PREFVAR1)$(PREFIX2).autobil.bin: $(PREFVAR1)$(PREFIX1).dix
+$(PREFVAR1)$(PREFIX2).autobil.bin: $(BASENAME).$(PREFIX1).dix
