Hello, Firstly: my contact is not what I would like it to be at present. If you reply by mail, I should receive in two days or so. I made contact on IRC, and hope to be there most mornings (Greenwich Mean Time) over the next few days.
In short, new front page for installation (not yet placed): http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/User:Rcrowther This is backed by new pages containing material that many will recognise, but much re-ordered. The major proposed changes are: - Material has been moved to categorised pages, rather than grouped round one page with a 'recommended process'. The 'recommended process' wasn't working for me. I tried rewriting to bring it up-to-date. It still didn't work. I guess Apertium now has too many users over a wide base? - ''Minimal installation from SVN' page to be reduced to an index. Reasons for proposal - there is nothing 'minimal' now about a compilation. 'Installation', there is a note on the proposed front page about this. '...from SVN' - the repository has many uses, like language downloading. And the title seems to hint this method is the only way to get Apertium --- it is not. I can't get on very well with the title, I suppose. The page can't be removed, it is too well-known, and may be bookmarked. It probably should not be redirected, as there is too much information present to know where to redirect to. So I'm proposing a little index, which you can see at the bottom of the page here, http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/User:Rcrowther#Minimal_installation_from_SVN ? There's a lot more, but those are the contentious points. Hope everyone understands why I would try to change, and so disrupt, some of the most-linked and most-visited pages on the Wiki. Hopefully meet you on IRC, Rob ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Apertium-stuff mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/apertium-stuff
