The Department of Al-Alsun (Languages) of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and
Mass Communication at Misr International University is delighted to
announce its 1st international conference on "Recent Trends in
Translation Technology," to be held in Cairo on April 6-7, 2019.
Aim and Scope:
Computer technology has revolutionized translation studies and
practice. Translation technologies including translation memories,
interactive uses of machine translation, computer-aided translation
(CAT) tools, and collaborative translation management systems now
embrace every aspect of the translation profession. These technologies
have improved productivity and quality in translation and led to great
changes in translation practice and industry.
This conference aims to provide a forum for the discussion of the impact
of recent technologies on the translation profession by bringing
together scholars, practitioners and translation industry
professionals. The conference will offer plenary talks, paper and panel
presentations, workshops, and an exhibition of commercial products.
The Conference seeks submissions that address any of the following
proposed topics.

Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Computer-aided translation (CAT) tools
* Corpus-based translation studies
* Localization tools
* Terminology-management tools
* Translation memory software
* Online translation
* Concordancers
* Translation management systems
* Electronic corpora
* Project management in translation
* Cloud-based translation tools
* Multimedia, hypermedia and audiovisual translations
* Translation industry in the digital age
* Fansubbing/ fandubbing, and YouTube community translation platform
* Computer-aided interpreting (CAI)
* Quality assurance tools
* Ethical, financial and legal questions in translation technology
* Translator education and training in translation technology

*Submission Guidelines: *
Proposals are welcome in three different formats: workshops, panels, and
paper presentations. Proposals will be reviewed by the Conference
Program Panel and are expected to align with one or more of the
Conference topics and be of a high professional standard. Proposals
(300 words) should be submitted via the conference webpage at
http://icrtt.miuegypt.edu.eg/proposal-submission no later than December
15, 2018.
All papers will be double blind peer-reviewed by specialists in the
field. Papers that meet the requirements of submission, review and
acceptance will be published.
All proposals should include:
* Title and session format of proposed presentation
* Topic
* Name(s) of presenter(s)
* Position and title of presenter(s)
* Presenter(s) affiliation
* E-mail address and telephone number
* Summary of the proposed presentation (300 words maximum)
* Abstract of the proposed presentation for the program book (50 words
maximum)
* Short biographical statement of the presenter(s) (50 words maximum).
*Paper Presentation proposals*
A proposal for a paper presentation should include a brief description
of new research findings or research in progress of the specific topic
or issue addressed. Each presentation will have a duration of 20
minutes, followed by Q and A.
*Workshop proposals (1-2 presenters)*
Workshops are designed to give participants hands on experience of new
approaches and new techniques. A proposal for a workshop should
include a description of the topic that will be explored as well as a
detailed description of the planning of the workshop and what the
participants can expect. Each workshop will have a duration of one hour .
*Panel proposals (4- 5 presenters)*
The Conference invites panel proposals which focus on a specific theme
of the conference and which are organized so that discussions with the
audience are encouraged. Panels typically include 3 or 4 panelists and a
moderator. Proposals should include the panel’s objectives and topics
and should explain the proposed composition of the panel and its
diversity, including the perspectives and contributions that each
participant will bring to the topic
(without listing presenters’names). The proposal is submitted by the
moderator, who is responsible for all aspects of the submission. Each
panel will have a duration of one hour.

Notification of acceptance: January 1, 2019
Deadline for submission of the full paper: July 1, 2019

*Egyptian participants: LE.150
Students: L.E. 50
Non-Egyptian participants: $ 150
The fees cover registration, conference materials and coffee and lunch
breaks during the conference.
