*Two Tea Parties*

Barbara Burger" <[email protected]>

Yesterday, I attended two tea parties. One was in Rochester, New York. The
other was in Corning, New York.

I had a GREAT day! It was good to share the time with people who feel as I
do that it is time to do something about the out-of-control government.

At the Rochester tea party, we marched to the County Office Building and
then to City Hall. The police were there on horseback. There were enough
of us that the police shut off a couple of lanes on Main Street and diverted
traffic. There were speeches in each location including a local park where
the rally began. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, and sang all of the
patriotic songs. There was a color guard and a bagpipe player.

When I was driving out of Rochester, the local radio station reported that
there were a couple of hundred people there. What a crock. I'm no expert,
but I would guess that the crowd was closer to two thousand.

The rally in Corning was entirely different. There were four speakers....
one local small business owner that explained the difficulties of surviving
as a small business in the present economy. The other speakers were local
radio personalities. There was a two piece band that played appropriate
music.

Nice touch at the Corning tea party: They asked people to bring
non-perishable food for the local food bank. The Salvation Army was there
to collect the food that we brought.

At both rallies, there were lots of flags.... American flags, Don't Tread on
Me flags, etc.

Both rallies were made up of 50% late twenties to thirties types, many with
there children in tow. The rest were older folks.... forties, fifties,
sixties, etc. I didn't see any of the Obama college kids that helped get
him elected. They are still on his bandwagon.

I did talk to several people who said that they had voted for Obama, but
were unhappy with the way things are working out.

Best moment: When we sang, "God Bless America". It always make me tear up
and yesterday was no exception.

Best signs: "Read My Teleprompter! No More Taxes!" "Born Free! Taxed to
Death!"

Absolute Best Sign: Carried by a 6-year-old and obviously made by himself.
"I'm 6 years old and I'm in debt! Should I get a job?"

On Saturday, there is another rally in Buffalo, New York. I'm planning on
being there.
