It is 1:00 am here in South Bend. Dr. Keyes was released from jail this evening at around 10 pm. A stranger posted his bond. Alan had planned to remain in jail until he could appear before a judge on Monday morning. Alan spent all day from noon until 10 pm inspiring and encouraging us and the few inmates whom God placed in the holding cell with us. I overheard the officers mocking Dr. Keyes and planning to deliberately delay his processing as an example. The rotting corruption of sin has poisoned our civil protectors and turned them into tyrants. Tragically the same holds true for many of our spiritual protectors. Today, as always, Dr. Keyes remains one of the greatest witnesses of God's love and truth I have ever met. As soon as we arrived at St. Joseph County Jail, (amazing isn't it?) we were separated (men and women) into two holding cells. We were told that anyone who wanted to post bail could do so instantly. I really needed to do that due to all the commitments I made here and to my family. Despite the initial bail announcement and three reminders to my jailers, I was denied my constitutional right to post bail for 10 hours. As I was being processed out at 9:45 this evening, the phone rang behind the police desk and the officer was told to add another charge for me. A female officer at Notre Dame falsely calims that I assaulted her. I am being charged with battery as well as trespassing. Needless to say, I never raised a finger to anyone and never would. This is raging spiritual warfare, the kingdom of darkness intoxicated with the blood of the innocents that will prompt law enforcement or anyone else in authority to abuse, slander, and violate those who hold true the standard of God's truth. Now they can report regardless of truth that the protestors became violent and even attacked the Notre Dame Police. Among the 23 or so of us who were arrested, about eight remain in jail. They will be incarcerated all weekend. Please pray and do what you can. Obama is unravelling our civilization and so many of our church leaders have abandoned God and will not intervene for the faithful. God bless you.
