Another biased state-run media poll... The New York Times over sampled democrats to pretend that Americans want nationalized health care: Americans overwhelmingly support substantial changes to the health care system and are strongly behind one of the most contentious proposals Congress is considering, a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurers, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. According to the actual poll data<http://westernjournalism-info.com/go.php/496202/6026/3523646>, of the 73% of respondents who said they voted in 2008 only 34% voted for McCain and 66% for Obama. The actual vote was 48% McCain. So, 29% of McCain voters ignored by the poll must not be Americans, according to the NYTs methodology, and there are about as much an over polling of Obama voters. The Washington Post seems to think so. You know the word "pernicious," which Webster's defines as "highly injurious or destructive." Webster's then offers these synonyms for "pernicious," including, "noxious," "deleterious," and "detrimental." As is so typical of the Post, and of the MSM in general, this little bit of bigotry was a throwaway, a gratuitous dig–a dig, of course, that reveals much about The Post's underlying mentality. In a review of a book about a botanical garden in Hawaii, Carolyn See, a longtime contributor to the Post's "Style" section, includes this nasty little aside about newcomers who changed the ecosystem of Hawaii: "then white people and their pernicious missionaries." Needless to say, no other group was similarly saddled with an insulting modifier. Only missionaries are "pernicious." *Read The Full Story:<http://westernjournalism-info.com/go.php/496202/6026/3523692> * ------------------------------ *ABC takes reporting from newsroom to the bedroom with White House special By Cal Thomas, Tribune Media Services* Not so long ago in a vastly different media environment there were such things as journalistic ethics. Reporters were prohibited from taking trips paid for by individuals or groups they might cover. They couldn't accept money for speeches. And they surely could not accept money or gratuities in exchange for reporting on a story in which a corporation or individual might have an interest. Too much socializing with sources was also frowned upon. Today, when news is sold as a product, like toothpaste and erectile dysfunction pills, the press has become a subsidiary of the advertising department, catering to target groups that are most likely to buy advertisers' products. The ABC News division has taken this one step further. On WednesdayJune 24, it will essentially become a mouthpiece for the Obama administration and its position on reforming healthcare. A special, "Questions for the President: Prescription for America," moderated by Charles Gibson (who is old enough to remember the days when a wall separated advertising from news), will air from the East Room of the White House. Gibson also will deliver "World News Tonight" from the White House's Blue Room. The programs should not originate from the East Room and Blue Room. Instead they should be broadcast from Obama's bedroom since ABC (and much of the slavish media) is in bed with this president. At last weekend's Radio and Television Correspondents' dinner in Washington he joked that during a sleepless night grappling with a problem "I rolled over and asked [NBC "Nightly News" anchorman] Brian Williams what he thought." The bada-bing drum roll for that joke was drowned out by self-conscious laughter from an audience that began the night with a cartoon tribute to the President as a Super Hero able to leap tall buildings and zoom across the globe to defeat evil pirates. The president drew more nervous laughs from the media when he said he didn't mind attending the dinner because "why bother hanging out with celebrities when I can spend time with the people who made me one." It's time for the press to stop being Obama's toady and treat him with the seriousness he deserves. So far, it's Hollywood on the Potomac all the time for Obama but at some point the press has got to get back to covering him as a serious, political leader. That means covering the manipulations, the flip flops, the failures of the administration. -- Instead of covering him like "Entertainment Tonight" they've got to start covering him more like a reality show -- one like "Jon & Kate." Ultimately, while the administration might be happy with their strategy at the moment, over time the press will lose its credibility and the Obama White House will have no way to deliver important messages to the American people. *Read The Full Story:<http://westernjournalism-info.com/go.php/496202/6026/3523738> * ------------------------------ <http://westernjournalism-info.com/go.php/496202/6026/2934547> <http://westernjournalism-info.com/go.php/496202/6026/3173540> We support responsible and ethical email marketing practices.
