Dear Friend,

Just after midnight this morning -- as we drove down Interstate 29 from
Fargo, North Dakota to Sioux Falls, South Dakota -- I came to the conclusion
that we are going to defeat President Obama’s Cap-and-Trade scheme…

If we tell the truth about this job-killing, tax-increasing legislation and
out-work and out-fight our opponents on the Left.

On Monday night we launched the 3rd leg of Americans for Prosperity’s “Hot
Air Tour” before a huge crowd of over 250 activists in Billings, Montana.

During the rally I asked everyone in the crowd to pull out their cell
phones, call Senator Baucus and Senator Tester and urge them to vote NO on
Cap-and-Trade. Dozens upon dozens of folks got through and left messages on
the Senators’ voice mails.

After a six hour drive to Bismarck, North Dakota we welcomed 100 intrepid
activists at an 8:30am event including one couple that had gotten up at 6am
and driven almost 2 hours to show their support!

Last night in Fargo, at least 240 grassroots activists heard North Dakota
Public Service Commissioner Kevin Cramer explain how badly Cap-and-Trade
would hurt their state by killing energy sector jobs, increasing gasoline
prices to $6 per gallon and doubling utility bills for families.

Just about every person in Bismarck and Fargo signed our petitions to
Senator Dorgan and Senator Conrad – petitions we will turn in by hand to the
Senators.

This morning, we held another successful event in Sioux Falls and we’ll wrap
up this 3rd Leg of the "Hot Air Tour" with a rally in Omaha, Nebraska
tonight.

Make no mistake, tough challenges lie ahead.

Radical environmental groups are badly outspending us. You’ve probably seen
their ads. Sadly, President Obama is willing to say just about anything.
Yesterday at his news conference he actually said that Cap-and-Trade “will
be paid for by the polluters who currently emit the dangerous carbon
emissions. ” He has to know such rhetoric is untruthful. You and I will be
footing the bill.

But, *our message that we cannot afford massive job-killing energy taxes for
a radical ideology is working*. We have *a solid strategic plan* that
focuses our time and talent on the United States Senate where the decisive
events will occur.

However, we need to show the grassroots fire against Cap-and-Trade now *
BEFORE* the decisive Senate confrontation later in September.

So, I’m asking you to *CLICK

your member of Congress to vote NO on Cap-and-Trade.

By taking a public, aggressive stand now you and I are strengthening our
position for the final battle in the Senate.

Sincerely,

Tim Phillips

P.S. I realize we’re asking you to do a lot, but we live in challenging
times where much is at stake. Just yesterday I wrote to you about the health
care legislation urging you to sign our new petition against a government
takeover and already over 15,000 of you have responded in just 24 hours.

Now, I’m asking you to send your member of Congress a message to vote NO on
Cap-and-Trade. *CLICK
