Also please make as many neighbors, friends and family aware of this issue. You might not agree with my view, but you should be aware of what is going on. I am adding one more link to the list. http://www.bansmartmetersarizona.com/ If anyone has any ideas, thoughts or information on this, please let me know. ****************************************************************** I spoke to Commissioner Burns (Arizona Corporation Commissions) today. From what she has told me, she is pretty much on the same page as me with regard to these so-called smart meters. >From speaking with her, I learned the following: The AZ Commission regulates APS, but not SRP. SRP has a governing board which is elected. The above link has some contact for SRP and APS. She mentioned that a number of homes in Prescott Valley had the meters installed and quite a few complaints were received. Some homeowners have put the poster (which can be downloaded from the above link) on their meters, saying that they do not wish to have a smart meter installed. Burns has advised me that temporarily the request is being honored. She does not know about the future. In meetings, she has requested the APS allow an opt-out for those who do not want to have the meter installed. Apparently there is a $200 fee for this. She is pushing for an opt-out with no penalty. Federal funds are involved in this project, so you can draw your own conclusions from that. If you are on SRP below is a link showing the names of all of the board members and there is also some contact information on the bansmartmeters link. http://www.srpnet.com/about/elected.aspx If you are on APS, Commissioner Burns email is below. Mary Seales Natural Born Citizen God Bless America From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Smart Meters Date: Wed, 17 Aug 2011 15:58:26 -0600 Commissioner Burns: Of late I have been getting a lot of emails from folks in other states about the so-called "smart meter" and I am concerned about this. In the post Obama world, there have been assaults on our free speech, laws mandating health care and a variety of other occurrences where there is increasingly more and more encroachment on our liberties. The government is even trying to ban the manufacture of one kind of light bulb and pushing the use of another. For this reason I think it is not unreasonable for people to fear that the move towards this device is yet another attempt on the part of the government to exert unlawful control over our lives. I am an on line political activist and I deal with a large coalition of people across the U.S. and many of them are up in arms about this. From what I have seen, this is just another grab for power by Big Brother. These days, news travels like lightening on the internet and people are watching the government very closely. To date I have heard about this smart meter that it has raised energy costs, has a negative impact on health and is being used to monitor people's activities. As well I have heard of utility companies, in response to non-compliance of customers, threatening to turn off their power. I've included some links on this subject, below. http://www.infowars.com/smart-meter-slavery/ http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/consumers/smart_meter_technology_06282010 http://smartmetersafety.com/ The last link is about the Maine Public Utilities Commission ruling that it is "unreasonable" for Central Maine Power to force every customer to accept a wireless meter, and that it is "in the public interest" for customers to opt out... My question to you is what can we do to stop this change to smart meters dead in its tracks or at least make the transition purely on a voluntary basis. What is Arizona doing to safeguard the rights of its citizens. I await your reply before disseminating to my very large list of AZ residents. I voted for you and I know your background suggests you are a conservative person with good sensible values.
