Dear Patriot,
Are you ready to MELT the PHONE LINES in the
SENATE?
Welcome to day 1113 in the era of total fiscal
irresponsibility on Capitol Hill. That's right! Today is the 1113th day that
the Senate has
gone without passing a budget. And frankly, it takes two to tango. There is no
stomach on
the Hill for tough decisions, but when it comes to fiscal irresponsibility, the
Senate is
the most blatant offender – at least the House has debated and passed a budget,
the Senate
Leadership is totally AWOL and as we all know, it takes two Houses of Congress
to pass any
bill.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is basically
saying “no
worries” we are authorized to continue borrowing, so we don’t need a budget.
Imagine if you
heard your husband or wife make a statement like this. This is really a
shockingly
irresponsible position to take and it is completely political. Because Harry
Reid has no
interest in doing what is best for the American people, the leaderless Senate
will continue
to kick the can down the road as long as they can get away with it. Let’s make
them so
uncomfortable that they HAVE to allow a vote.
We don’t have to sit still and take it! We have
said time and
time again that we are going to hold their feet to the fire! With summer just
around the
corner, let's turn up the summer heat and melt the phone lines in the Senate
today. Tell
them we will no longer accept this kind of behavior and it is time to PASS A
BUDGET!

Here are some details to help when you’re talking
to your
Senator. There are currently four budget resolution proposals for the Senate’s
consideration:
a.. Congressman Paul Ryan’s Budget – Has been
passed by the
House. The claim is that it would balance in 10 years, but the more likely
scenario is it
would take at least 28 years to reach balance. It requires very modest cuts and
relies on
restructuring and reform of entitlements to cut the rate of growth in
government
expenditures.
b.. Senator Pat Toomey’s Budget – this one
projects balance
in eight years and modest surpluses by 2021.
c.. Senators Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Jim
DeMint’s Budget –
projects balance in five years.
d.. President Obama’s Budget – The claim is it
gets the
deficit down to 2.8% of GDP by 2022; the Republican Study Committee says it
would never
balance.
The Democrats have claimed that Republicans have
blocked
efforts in the Senate to pass a budget, but the budget can pass on
reconciliation in the
Senate which means it only needs a majority vote. Which the Democrats currently
have!
We don’t have to just sit and take it. We have
said time and
again we are going to hold their feet to the fire. With Summer just around the
corner, let’s
turn up the Summer heat and melt the Senate phone lines. Tell your two Senators
that we will
no longer accept this kind of behavior. It is time to pass a budget- they are
1113 days
late! We want a budget and we want it now!
