Subject: Take Action: Stop the Monsanto rider!

What do genetically engineered crops have to do with spending
bills?

A lot, it turns out, thanks to the Monsanto rider. The U.S.
Senate is
currently voting on amendments to a continuing resolution spending bill with a
dangerous
Monsanto rider that would allow industry to continue growing genetically
engineered food
that may not be safe. We need your help immediately to stop this rider.

The Monsanto rider would strip federal courts of their
authority to halt
the sale and planting of an illegal, potentially hazardous genetically
engineered crop. It
would compel the U.S. Department of Agriculture to allow continued planting of
that same
crop upon request.

Luckily, Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) has introduced an
amendment that would
block the Monsanto rider and close this backdoor approval for genetically
engineered crops.

We at EWG are doing everything we can to stop the Monsanto
rider, but we
need our 1 million supporters - you! - to take action right now. The Senate
could vote on
the Tester amendment as soon as today. Your senators need to hear from you
today that you
want the Monsanto rider blocked, before it's too late!

Click here to email your senators to ask them to support the
Tester
amendment that would block the Monsanto rider. Make your voice heard before the
vote!

Thank you for taking action! With your rapid response, we can
stop the
Monsanto rider.

                  Sincerely,

                  Ken Cook
