Use the dispatcher.
Dim dispatcher As Object, curWin As Object
Dim args(0) As New com.sun.star.beans.PropertyValue
curWin = ThisComponent.CurrentController.Frame
dispatcher = createUnoService("com.sun.star.frame.DispatchHelper")
args(0).Name = "Tables"
args(0).Value = Array(1,2,4) ' list of sheet numbers to select
dispatcher.executeDispatch(curWin, ".uno:SelectTables", "", 0, args())
