Dear fellow APNIC members, I want to congratulate the APNIC teams and people involved in the development of the numbers community proposal for dealing with the IANA stewardship transition.
You have created a workable, sensible model that preserves the separation between policymaking and ICANN's role as the IANA functions manager, and that keeps the right for the numbers community to choose a different operator in future if this is required. >From the conversations I've had with people at APRICOT this week, those following these issues support the proposal. It makes sense to do so - a sensible evolution with minimal changes that makes sure IANA functions for numbers are accountable to the numbers community. Well done to Dr Govind, Izumi-san and Craig and all the others involved in the APNIC community. You have done good work. I look forward to seeing this proposal going forward in the joint proposal the ICG sends to NTIA as soon as possible. (Finally, I hope that we names community people can catch up soon and get this transition happening, learning all we can from the work you have done!) best regards, Jordan -- Jordan Carter Chief Executive *InternetNZ* 04 495 2118 (office) | +64 21 442 649 (mob) [email protected] Skype: jordancarter *A better world through a better Internet *
