2019 ISIF Asia Grants and Awards applications extended

ISIF Asia has extended the deadline for the 2019 Call for Grant
Proposals and Award Nominations until 21 June 2019.
USD 115,000 in funding will be shared among innovative projects that
foster Internet development across the Asia Pacific.
Awards
------
ISIF Asia Awards reward the positive contributions and innovations to
power Internet infrastructure in the Asia Pacific.
For 2019, one award is available for I4D Powering Internet
Infrastructure. It includes a cash prize of USD 3,500 and a travel grant
to attend the 2019 Internet Governance Forum, where the awards ceremony
will take place.

Grants
------
Grants will be allocated to projects that have a clear development
outcome demonstrating concrete contribution to research and /or
implementation of Internet-based solutions, Internet operations, and
Internet infrastructure, technologies and protocols within the Asia
Pacific region.
Internet Operations Research Grants:
For projects supporting research focused on the availability,
reliability and security of the Internet, with a particular focus on
operational stability and security.
Focus areas:
- Technical innovation in providing efficient, reliable power for
Internet infrastructures, particularly in challenging situations
such as off-grid, intermittently supplied, or disaster-afflicted
environments
- Creative organizational/partnership arrangement(s) and incentives
for development of alternative and renewable energy sources for
use in powering Internet infrastructure
- Creative technical and business solutions involving provision of
power in tandem with Internet access, to expand connectivity to
underserved areas
- Enabling regulatory frameworks that support innovative technical
and business models for power access provision

2019 I4D Powering Internet Infrastructure Grants:
For projects supporting the research and development of software and/or
hardware solutions to improve the stability and reliability of how
Internet infrastructure is powered.
Focus areas:
- Adoption of best practices in operational Internet security by
network operators, enterprises and service providers
- Improving security of the Internet routing system through use of
the RPKI standard
- Use of Internet address registry or registry data, through use of
the new RDAP protocols
- Diagnosis, monitoring, measurement and/or analysis of live or
historical datasets related to Internet infrastructure and its
security
Funding: 2x USD 20,000 for a total of 40,000
