The Internet of Trash
---------------------

By Geoff Huston on 3 February 2021

IoT devices are everywhere, but who looks after them as they age?
Many IoT devices are too small and cheap to bother with updating the
firmware over time. Nobody in the supply chain is taking responsibility.

Geoff argues that if these devices are widely deployed, unmanageable,
and vulnerable to hostile manipulation and control, then serious problems
may be on the horizon.

How Chromium reduced DNS traffic
--------------------------------

By Duane Wessels on 4 February 2021

As we reflect on how Chromium's large impact to root server traffic
was identified and then resolved, we as a DNS community could consider
how outreach and engagement should be incorporated into a traditional
approach of addressing DNS security, stability, and resiliency.

Putting DNSSEC signers to the test: Knot vs Bind
------------------------------------------------

By Arth Paulite on 25 February 2021

APNIC needed to migrate APNIC's existing DNSKEY algorithm from RSASHA1
to ECDSAP256SHA256. Unfortunately, the CPU of the DNSSEC signer that
APNIC was using was struggling under the load.

After narrowing down the options to Bind 9.16 and Knot 2.9, APNIC put
both through a battery of tests to see what features would work and
which to choose.
