Hi,

to Otto's request, I'm forwarding this message to the list,
as I won't have time to allocate to this any time soon.

Anyone interested?

Hello!

I am writing you directly regarding issue
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=736087

MariaDB has of old legacy a file like this:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-mysql/mariadb-5.5.git;a=blob;f=debian/dist/Ubuntu/apparmor-profile

MySQL has now the new file:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-mysql/mysql-5.5.git;a=blob_plain;f=debian/apparmor-profile

I am the packager and I'd like to add the apparmor-profile file to
MariaDB too, but I am a bit uncertain if everything will work as
expected.

Could you please install latest MariaDB from Debian unstable, but the
new apparmor file there and test if everything works?

You could for example run

  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install --reinstall -y --force-yes mariadb-test
libmariadbclient18 mariadb-common mariadb-client mariadb-client-5.5
mariadb-client-core-5.5 mariadb-server mariadb-server-5.5
mariadb-server-core-5.5
(do the apparmor stuff here)
  cd /usr/share/mysql/mysql-test/
  time perl mysql-test-run.pl --vardir=/tmp/mysql --parallel=4 --force
--retry=3 --max-save-core=0 --max-save-datadir=1 | tee
/tmp/mysql-test.log

And then look at mysql-test.log if it has errors, and edit the
apparmor profile until it for sure works?

I am no AppArmor guru and I would appreciate a lot if you can help me
out with this.

- Otto
