Go to Control Centre -> Appearance & Themes -> Colors; there you can modify the colors for everything to your heart's content. I'm personally using a completely white-on-black setup, but the caveat is there's only two styles I know of that can handle this properly; one is the included "High Contrast", the other QIndustrial: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=22913 (I've filed a bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96145 as well, if you want to vote on it.)
