Hello everyone, as I already pointed out to Aaron this summer, I have been working on a Bachelor thesis on "Visualization and Interaction Techniques for Future E-Mail-Clients" for the last months. The thesis discusses today's e-mail clients and how they fall short on giving users sufficient control over their e-mail collections in many cases. It also contains an overview of selected works relevant to this area of research.
I believe that KDE 4 is a good opportunity to build a new set of communication or e-mail programs which improve upon those currently included. To support the KDE project, I've put up an online version of the thesis on my website under http://3danim.de/wiki/Projects:Bachelor_thesis In the original version, I also proposed two new user interface concepts, however they had to be removed due to pending publication. Once the publication has been made, I will update the online version with the original document. Overall, I received a very good grade on the thesis, so I hope to be making a useful contribution through this. Furthermore, I think it would be very useful to have a small team getting together to work on such a communcations application exclusively. What are your thoughts? Any comments?
