In short: We know about it, there is a kde frontend to this window manager 
(compiz), which is not yet complete, but should be trivial to do once 
somebody finds time to implement it. Maybe you? :)

On a personal note: I don't think that Xgl is the way to go in the long term, 
since it currently requires an extra window manager, a running x-server 
underneath and some extra hacks to make it work.

However the general technology is interesting and we will go for it in KDE 4.
