The Focus list is a customizable list where you can change the settings to show what types of tasks you want to display. You can do things like filter certain lists out so that only certain lists are shown. Or you can hide tasks after a certain date or priority. You can also choose how to display completed tasks. Also the icon badge can be set up to display the number of tasks in the Focus List, which for some users makes the icon badge more useful.
